‘I Warned You’: Millie Odhiambo Speaks Out as Sifuna Prepares for Friday Event
Suba North Member of Parliament Millie Odhiambo has broken her silence on the growing political tensions within the Orange Democratic Movement, insisting that she had warned the party against pushing Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna out of its leadership.
Her remarks come as Sifuna prepares to officially launch the Linda Mwananchi Movement on Friday, October 30, 2026, in a major political development expected to shape the opposition landscape ahead of the 2027 General Election.
According to Millie, she previously opposed moves to remove Sifuna from his position as ODM secretary-general, arguing that the party risked strengthening his political influence by treating him unfairly.
The outspoken legislator expressed disappointment that her concerns were dismissed when she raised questions about decisions made within ODM following the death of former party leader Raila Odinga.
In a social media post, Millie appeared to distance herself from the ongoing political battles, suggesting that she was increasingly embracing a more relaxed attitude towards controversy as she approached a new decade in her life.
She maintained that she had no opinion on the latest political developments, adding that her previous comments on contentious issues could be found in the archives.
Despite her apparent reluctance to engage in the current debate, Millie’s earlier statements have continued to attract attention, particularly her argument that ODM’s treatment of Sifuna may have inadvertently elevated his national political profile.
The legislator had previously warned that repeatedly attacking Sifuna could make him more influential rather than weaken his position.
Sifuna’s political journey has since taken a new direction following his removal as ODM secretary-general and the subsequent fallout with sections of the party leadership.
He has continued to attract support through the Linda Mwananchi initiative, which brings together politicians calling for a different political direction ahead of the next general election.
Friday’s event is expected to formalise the movement’s identity and unveil details of its leadership structure.
However, Millie has not publicly confirmed whether she intends to join Sifuna’s camp, leaving questions about her political future unanswered.
Her latest remarks have nevertheless revived debate over whether ODM’s internal disagreements could have lasting consequences for the party’s unity and electoral ambitions in 2027.
