Ghana U-15 exit FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival after penalty defeat to Paraguay
Ghana’s National U-15 Boys team have been eliminated from the FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival in Azerbaijan after suffering a 7-6 penalty shootout defeat to Paraguay in the quarter-finals.
The encounter ended 2-2 after regulation time, with Ghana fighting hard to keep their hopes alive before the tie was decided from the spot.
The team had won seven consecutive matches before the quarter-final, including impressive victories over Korea Republic (2-1) and Mexico (5-2) in the knockout stages. However, they were unable to maintain their winning run in the shootout, as Paraguay converted seven penalties against Ghana’s six.
The defeat brings an end to Ghana’s campaign at the FIFA Talent Development Scheme tournament, where they topped Group W with a perfect record and scored 34 goals in eight matches.
Despite the quarter-final exit, the National U-15 Boys can take pride in their performances throughout the competition, having entertained fans with their attacking football and maintained an unbeaten record until their clash with Paraguay.
