Kosoko: People Crying About Acute Hunger Under Tinubu Must Check What They Were Even Eating Before
Veteran Nigerian actor Prince Jide Kosoko has urged Nigerians complaining about hunger under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to consider their circumstances before the president assumed office in 2023.
According to a video posted by Talk-to-B Podcast on Friday, October 16, 2026, Kosoko made the remarks while defending the government’s economic policies and responding to concerns about the hardship facing Nigerians.
During the interview, the host asked what evidence an ordinary Nigerian had that Tinubu was fixing the country. In response, Kosoko acknowledged the difficulties people were experiencing but clarified that he was not claiming everything was going well.
In his words, “When you see people saying, I am hungry, I am hungry, go and check the majority of those people saying that. Before Tinubu came, what were they doing? What were they eating? Every year things change.”
The actor also argued that the money previously spent on petrol subsidies created problems for the future. He compared the arrangement to borrowing ₦5 million and spending it without considering how the debt would eventually be repaid.
Kosoko further pointed to the student loan scheme, saying it helps reduce the financial responsibilities placed on parents. He encouraged beneficiaries to speak about their experiences with the programme.
He also urged Nigerians to stop deceiving themselves, noting that people still find ways to make money despite the economic challenges. He added that traders should avoid unfair price increases, describing profiteering as a significant problem in the country.
Kosoko’s comments come amid continuing public debate over Tinubu’s economic reforms, the rising cost of living and the impact of government policies on households and businesses.
