“He Visits Ruto At Night & Joins Opposition During The Day” Politician Accuses Gachagua’s Ally

Former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza has accused former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi of maintaining links with President William Ruto while publicly associating with opposition leaders ahead of the 2027 General Election.

In a strongly worded statement on Wednesday, October 28, Mwangaza questioned Linturi’s political loyalty, alleging that he visits the President at night to receive money before presenting himself as an opposition supporter during the day.

“Linturi ni msaliti. Kwa Kasongo usiku kuchukua pesa, opposition mchana kujifanya ni wantam,” Mwangaza said, accusing the former Cabinet Secretary of engaging in political double-dealing.

Mwangaza also revisited the controversy surrounding the fake fertiliser scandal, referring to Linturi as “Mr Fake Fertiliser” while questioning his involvement in what she described as questionable dealings.

She further challenged the former Meru Senator to clarify his political position, arguing that his alleged association with rival political camps had raised questions about his commitment to the opposition.

The accusations come amid growing political realignments as leaders position themselves for various elective seats in the 2027 elections.

Linturi, who is eyeing the Meru gubernatorial seat, has previously dismissed claims that he intends to abandon the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) and return to President Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

On Monday, October 12, Linturi responded to allegations circulated by Kamukunji parliamentary aspirant Alinur Mohamed, who had claimed that the former Cabinet Secretary was planning to rejoin UDA.

Linturi dismissed the claims as propaganda, insisting that his political ambitions and commitment to his cause remained unchanged.

“Alinur, this country doesn’t have a shortage of daydreamers. Continue waiting. Our resolve to liberate this country is on autopilot. Nothing can change our cause. Not even your propaganda,” he stated.

Linturi has also publicly displayed his continued association with DCP by wearing the party’s merchandise during a meeting with elders at his home in Meru.

His appearance in DCP colours followed speculation about his political future, with the former senator maintaining his association with the party.

Mwangaza’s latest remarks add another dimension to the political debate surrounding Linturi’s allegiance as leaders and parties intensify preparations for the 2027 elections.
