Good News for Ruto as New 2027 Presidential Poll Reveals Surprising Lead Over Kalonzo and Sifuna
A new survey has offered an early glimpse into Kenya’s 2027 presidential race, with President William Ruto emerging as the leading candidate as opposition support appears divided among several political figures.
According to the poll conducted by Swiss Poll International, Ruto secured 40.2% support among respondents, putting him ahead of other contenders as political temperatures gradually rise ahead of the next General Election.
The survey involved 6,146 Kenyans interviewed between October 19 and 22, 2026. It sought to establish voters’ presidential preferences as politicians begin positioning themselves for the 2027 contest.
Among the opposition figures mentioned in the poll were Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna. Their presence highlights the range of political personalities seeking to influence the direction of the opposition ahead of the election.
However, the findings also point to a race that is far from settled. Some respondents remain undecided, suggesting that voter preferences could change as campaigns gather momentum and candidates present their plans to Kenyans.
The division of opposition support could become an important factor in determining how the race develops. Political alliances, candidate selection and public confidence may all influence the final outcome.
Nevertheless, an opinion poll is only a snapshot of voters’ views at a particular moment. It does not determine the eventual winner.
With the 2027 General Election approaching, the big question is whether Ruto can maintain his lead or whether his challengers will unite and reshape the contest.
