Please stop calling me your leader. Wike is our common leader now- Gov Fubara tells his supporters
The Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara, has asked his supporters to desist from calling him their leader and going forward should recognise the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, as the leader of all political groups in the state.
Fubara made the declaration on Tuesday, October 27, at the official unveiling of the Rainbow Coalition at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
Addressing the gathering, Fubara urged members of his former support base who had joined the coalition to recognise its leadership structure, declaring that he was no longer their leader within the political arrangement.
“Let me say something here so that it will always help us while we move forward. I’m aware there are some issues where some persons who followed me when we had the crisis, when you’re in your meeting, you say, ‘My leader, my leader.’ We are now in one house. And because we have one house, there is no issue about who is the leader. I might be your oga (governor), but we have a common leader now. So please, going forward, this issue of ‘my leader, my leader, my leader’, I want it resolved here and now.”
