Letsholonyane Guides Mochudi Centre Chiefs Into Top 8 Semi-Finals

South African coach Reneilwe Letsholonyane has continued his impressive start at Mochudi Centre Chiefs in Botswana, guiding the club into the semi-finals of the African Hero Top 8 after securing another victory over the weekend.

The former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana midfielder maintained his winning run as Mochudi Centre Chiefs defeated Morupule Wanderers 3-1 at the National Stadium in Gaborone. The result secured their place in the last four and kept their hopes of winning silverware alive.

Mochudi Centre Chiefs, popularly known as Maaparankwe, took the lead in the 26th minute through former Cape Town Spurs striker Mpho Kgaswane. The early goal gave Letsholonyane’s team a positive start as they looked to control the contest.

The visitors continued to push after the break and doubled their advantage in the 70th minute when Kelvin Ndebelele found the net, with Kgaswane providing the assist.

Morupule Wanderers managed to pull a goal back later in the match, creating a tense finish. However, Mochudi Centre Chiefs responded by restoring their two-goal cushion in the 87th minute through Argentine forward Nicolas Melgajero, sealing the 3-1 victory.

The win marks another positive step for Letsholonyane, who returned to Botswana in September after leaving Zimbabwean club FC Platinum. The former midfielder has quickly made an impact since taking charge, recording back-to-back league victories before adding the cup triumph to his early achievements.

His team currently sit fourth in the Botswana Premier League standings with 10 points, five behind leaders Gaborone United. They will now turn their attention to their next league fixture against Jwaneng Galaxy, scheduled for Wednesday, October 28.

Mochudi Centre Chiefs will face Sua Flamingoes in the African Hero Top 8 semi-finals on November 7, giving Letsholonyane another opportunity to guide the club closer to a trophy. Daily News.
