PSL Confirms Carling Knockout Quarter-Final Draw Procedure

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has announced that the draw for the quarter-finals of the Carling Knockout Cup will occur right after the final Round of 16 match between Durban City and Stellenbosch FC on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.

Reports from October 26 state that this draw will establish the four matchups for the quarter-finals and designate which teams will have home advantage as the tournament advances towards its critical phase.

The final Round of 16 games are set for Tuesday and Wednesday, featuring notable teams like defending champions Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Kaizer Chiefs still vying for spots in the last eight.

The PSL has revealed that the quarter-final draw for the 2026/27 Carling Knockout Cup will follow the concluding match at Chatsworth Stadium, scheduled for 19:00, where teams will learn their opponents for the quarter-finals.

The draw process will utilize three pots: Pot A for the seeded teams, Pot B to allocate home and away teams, and Pot C for the unseeded clubs.

In this procedure, the seeded teams will be identified based on their previous season’s Betway Premiership standings, while the remaining teams will be classified in the unseeded pot, ensuring that each quarter-final pairing has one seeded and one unseeded team.

The draw will first include a ball from Pot A placed into Pot B, followed by a ball from Pot C, with both remaining unopened. Then, both balls will be drawn from Pot B, designating the first team as the home side and the second as the away team. This process will continue until all four quarter-final matchups and home/away designations are complete.

So far, four teams have secured quarter-final spots: Golden Arrows, Siwelele FC, AmaZulu FC, and Sekhukhune United. The final slots will be filled through matches on Tuesday, involving Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs, and Wednesday’s match between Durban City and Stellenbosch FC.

This draw is anticipated to excite fans, particularly with several top clubs still in contention for advancement to the later stages of the tournament. For the teams, advancing brings them closer to the goal of winning the Carling Knockout Cup, while the draw will set the matchups for the quarter-finals.
