Dr Bawumia is an economist, and no one should change that – Beatrice Annan
Beatrice Annan, a lawyer and political commentator, has taken a swipe at Kofi Bentil over his efforts to rebrand Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, suggesting that the campaign to reshape the former vice-president’s image has gone too far.
In a Facebook post dated October 25, 2026, Annan declared that “Dr Bawumia is an economist, and no one should change that.” She further mocked Bentil’s approach, suggesting that he was surpassing Dennis Miracles Aboagye in the rebranding exercise.
Her remarks reflected opposition to what she viewed as an unnecessary attempt to redefine Bawumia’s professional identity. Annan maintained that his established credentials should be recognized rather than altered to suit political messaging.
The comments have also brought renewed attention to the debate over political image-making in Ghana. Although branding plays a role in shaping public perception, excessive efforts to reinvent political figures can raise questions about their authenticity and credibility.
Annan’s message was that political communication should reflect reality rather than rely on exaggeration or artificial image-building. Her criticism reinforces the view that honesty and consistency are essential to maintaining public trust.
