Seyi:When The President’s Son Is Moving On The Street,He Goes With A Battalion Defending Him—Okonkwo
Kenneth Okonkwo, spokesperson for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has questioned the security arrangements surrounding Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alleging that an unusually large number of security personnel accompany him during public movements.
Okonkwo made the remarks during an interview on Mic On Podcast on Saturday, October 24, 2026, while discussing the Tinubu administration, Nigeria’s political direction and the challenges confronting the country ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Expressing concern over the deployment of security personnel to the president’s son, the former lawmaker said, “When the president’s son is moving on the street, he goes with a battalion defending only him.”
His statement formed part of his broader criticism of the administration, particularly regarding the management of public resources and the distribution of security protection among individuals associated with those in positions of power.
Okonkwo’s comments also highlighted concerns about the disparity between the protection reportedly available to politically influential individuals and the security challenges faced by ordinary Nigerians.
