Mt Kenya MP Set for First Major Media Interview Since Breaking Ranks With UDA

Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba is set to appear on Gukena FM on Monday, October 26, for her first major media interview since breaking ranks with the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Wamuchomba will speak on the station’s ‘uteti wa Kirima’ programme from 7am to 8am, according to a promotional poster announcing the interview.

The programme’s title is a Kikuyu expression referring to a conversation about the mountain. In this context, ‘Kirima’ represents the Mount Kenya region, while ‘uteti’ means talk or discussion. The theme points to a conversation about the region’s politics, leadership and future.

The interview comes as Wamuchomba’s political relationship with President William Ruto’s administration faces uncertainty following her break with UDA.

The legislator has criticised leaders over issues affecting the Kikuyu community and is expected to use the interview to explain her position and address questions about her political future.

With the 2027 General Election approaching, attention is also on the party ticket she will seek as she prepares to defend her Githunguri parliamentary seat.

The interview will give listeners an opportunity to hear Wamuchomba explain her differences with the ruling party and her plans for the next election.
