Methu Reveals What Will Happen If Gachagua Fails to Take on Ruto

Political temperatures are rising ahead of the 2027 General Election after Methu declared that the opposition would not give President William Ruto room to relax vowing to support any candidate selected to challenge him.

In a strongly worded statement, Methu indicated that the opposition was determined to maintain pressure on Ruto suggesting that the political contest would not depend entirely on whether former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua emerges as the preferred candidate.

“Hatuwezipea Ruto nafasi ya kupumua, kama sio Gachagua tutasukuma yule atachaguliwa kupambana na yeye,” Methu stated.

His remarks highlight the growing importance of candidate selection and political unity as leaders position themselves ahead of the crucial 2027 contest.

According to Methu, Gachagua remains a possible figure in the effort to challenge Ruto.

However, he suggested that the opposition would be ready to rally behind another contender if Gachagua is not chosen to lead the battle.

The declaration could intensify discussions among opposition supporters over who has the political influence national appeal and organisational strength needed to mount a competitive challenge against the incumbent President.

It also raises questions about whether leaders with different political ambitions will agree to support a single candidate or whether disagreements could complicate their efforts to build a united front.

With the next General Election approaching, political alliances, negotiations and possible endorsements are expected to remain central to the country’s political conversation.

Methu’s statement sends a clear message that, at least in his view, the opposition’s priority is finding a candidate to challenge Ruto rather than insisting on one individual.

However, the final candidate, the extent of cooperation among opposition leaders and the strategy they will adopt remain uncertain as the 2027 political contest gradually takes shape.
