Two Toyota Mark X Cars Crash in Dramatic Eldoret Drifting Stunt

What was meant to be a show of skill ended in a crunch of metal in Eldoret, after two Toyota Mark X cars collided while performing drift stunts.

Video of the incident is making the rounds online. It shows the two drivers sliding through tight, smoky turns, tyres screaming, as onlookers crowd around to watch and film. Then one car swings wide and the other has nowhere to go. The two meet with a loud bang, and the cheering stops almost at once.

Drifting has become a big part of car culture in parts of Kenya, and Eldoret has its share of fans. Young drivers gather to show off their cars and their nerve, and the clips spread quickly on TikTok and Instagram.

But the same videos show how little room for error there is. A drift depends on split-second timing between drivers, and a small misjudgment can be costly.

Reactions online have been mixed. Some viewers say the crash proves these stunts belong on a closed track, not on public roads or near crowds.

Others defend the sport, pointing out that drifting is a legitimate motorsport when done in a controlled setting with proper safety measures. A few simply sympathise with the owners, who must now deal with what looks like serious damage to both cars.

Details about the incident remain thin. It’s unclear exactly where and when it happened, whether anyone was hurt, or whether police have stepped in. Those facts should be confirmed with officers or the organisers before anyone draws conclusions.

Still, the message is hard to ignore. Whatever the skill involved, a drift gone wrong can easily put spectators, other road users and the drivers themselves in danger.
