Venuum Defends Fixed Carbon-Fibre Wing On Burna Boy’s ₦9 Billion Chiron VXX After Bugatti CEO’s Comments
Last month, Nigerian music icon Burna Boy set the global automotive community abuzz with the delivery of his Bugatti Chiron VXX Special Edition, an ultra-exclusive, one-of-one creation meticulously crafted by Dubai-based luxury modifier Venuum.
Acquired as a birthday gift, Burna Boy’s Bugatti continues to turn heads not only for its exclusivity and the whopping price tag of over ₦9 billion but also for its aggressive rear profile—the latter, which is now at the heart of an intense enthusiast debate.
Based on the Chiron Pur Sport, the Venuum-branded Bugatti Chiron features bespoke “Burna Boy” graphics on its massive carbon-fibre rear wing. To create this design, Venuum completely replaced Bugatti’s complex factory hydraulic active-aero system with a bold, static, fixed carbon-fibre wing.
This radical customisation naturally caught the eye of Bugatti CEO Mate Rimac, according to a short video seen by Autojosh. During discussions on the sidelines of a show, the Bugatti boss questioned the engineering implications of locking down a movable aerodynamic element and how its heavy loads are transferred through the structure.
Responding directly to the high-level industry scrutiny, Venuum’s engineering team readily conceded that “Mate is right,” acknowledging that a static, fixed wing is fundamentally simpler than a dynamic active aerodynamic setup.
To account for the harsh physics involved, where downforce quadruples when vehicle speed doubles, Venuum explained that it engineered a robust load path featuring short, stiff centre supports and slender fender fasteners secured across multiple joints.
The tuner further explained that advanced structural simulations demonstrated that, even under harsh real-world conditions, such as hitting severe road jolts and potholes, the centre of the carbon-fibre wing flexes by less than the thickness of a coin.
However, Venuum openly admits that adding fixed downforce creates extra aerodynamic drag and shifts the car’s aerodynamic balance forward, meaning Burna Boy’s custom Bugatti Chiron VXX cannot safely match the absolute top speed of an unmodified, original-equipment-manufacturer (OEM) Chiron.
To ensure safety and a balance between safety and performance, Venuum concluded that every owner of its custom cars equipped with carbon-fibre components receives specialised engineering guidance on how to drive their bespoke machine properly.
