AIC Bishop Prays for Ruto, Sends Him a Strong Message Over His Attacks on Opposition Leaders
African Inland Church (AIC) Kasina Bishop has called on President William Ruto to stop insulting opposition leaders, urging him to promote respectful political engagements ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking in Mwingi, the bishop expressed concern over the language used by political leaders, saying Kenyans need politics that promotes unity rather than insults and personal attacks.
“Siasa ya kutukanana hatutaki,” the bishop said, making it clear that political exchanges should focus on issues affecting citizens instead of exchanging insults.
The bishop also prayed for President Ruto, asking him to change his approach towards opposition leaders and embrace a more respectful way of conducting political affairs.
His remarks come at a time when political temperatures continue to rise as leaders position themselves ahead of the 2027 elections. President Ruto and several opposition figures have frequently exchanged sharp political statements as they seek to strengthen their support across the country.
The bishop’s message adds to growing calls for politicians to exercise restraint in their public statements and concentrate on matters affecting ordinary Kenyans, including the cost of living, employment and economic opportunities.
In his address, the religious leader appeared to emphasise the importance of peaceful political competition, urging leaders to remember that their words can influence how supporters relate to one another.
Religious leaders have continued to use public gatherings and church platforms to encourage politicians to maintain peace and respect opposing views, particularly as the country approaches another election cycle.
The bishop’s intervention is likely to attract attention among Kenyans following the ongoing political exchanges between the government and opposition leaders.
His message was straightforward: political differences should not become an excuse for insults, and leaders should demonstrate the maturity expected of those seeking public office.
The remarks were shared in a Facebook video, drawing attention to the debate over political language and leadership as campaigns gradually take shape ahead of 2027.
