Gideon Moi Finally Reveals Why He Accepted Truce With Ruto Despite Resistance From His Allies

Former Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has finally opened up and given two reasons why he accepted to make peace with Ruto despite resistance from a section of his allies

Updates indicate that The KANU boss today hosted a delegation of Kalenjin Elders at his Kabarak Farm during which he opened up and revealed the two reasons why he chose to make peace with Ruto last year that saw him shelve his By-elections Senatorial bid in favour of UDA candidate, despite resistance from his allies.

“Whatever I was expected to do, I did and I accepted to do so because of two things specifically” Gideon Moi said when loosely translated from Kalenjin.

One of the reasons highlighted by Gideon Moi is that he accepted Ruto’s leadership and the fact that being the leader he believed that whatever he promises will be fulfilled. He disclosed that during his talks with Ruto, the President agreed to deliver some projects to his home area.

“The things that we wanted to fulfill ni vitu ya nyumbani, ya watu wetu wa nyumbani” Gideon Moi said when loosely translated from Kalenjin.

The second reason given by Gideon Moi is that he did it out of respect since majority of people from their community had supported Ruto in 2022 general elections. He revealed that President Ruto talked to him at length and convinced him to a point he decided to respect him.

“I said let me give him respect. All of you, our people and the community voted for him so I said let me respect him. When he makes a request because he (Ruto) talked to me at length, so I said I will respect him and I did it without reservations in spite of resistance from my own people. There are people, if you look at my phone, there are people who insulted me, there are others who up to today no longer even talk to me” Gideon Moi said.

The revelation by Gideon Moi comes months after he reached a truce with President Ruto ahead of the Baringo By-elections. There have been claims that the two later fell out with President Ruto being on record accusing Gideon Moi of using Standard Media to try and black mail him. Gideon Moi has now opened up and revealed why he decided to make peace with Ruto, something he said led to his fallout with a section of his allies.
