Mosiria Turns Guns on Sakaja After Eastleigh Building Collapse, Appeals to Ruto to Intervene

Former Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja critic Jobless Mosiria has reportedly turned his criticism towards the county leadership following a building collapse in Eastleigh, Nairobi, blaming what he describes as incompetence in the management of the capital.

Mosiria has raised concerns over the incident, which has once again drawn attention to building safety, construction standards and the enforcement of regulations in Nairobi.

In his criticism, Mosiria reportedly faulted Governor Sakaja’s administration, arguing that the tragedy raises serious questions about the county government’s oversight of construction projects and its responsibility to protect residents from unsafe buildings.

He also appealed to President William Ruto to intervene, calling for action to address the concerns surrounding building safety and accountability in the city.

The Eastleigh incident has renewed scrutiny of Nairobi’s construction sector, particularly amid concerns about building approvals, compliance with safety standards and the enforcement of regulations in densely populated neighbourhoods.

Building collapses can have devastating consequences, putting residents, workers and passers-by at risk.

The latest incident is therefore likely to intensify calls for authorities to establish what caused the collapse and determine whether any safety regulations were violated.

Mosiria’s remarks add a political dimension to the incident, placing renewed pressure on the county administration to address questions about its handling of construction safety.

However, the cause of the collapse and any potential responsibility on the part of county officials would need to be established through an official investigation.

As attention turns to the incident, residents will be looking to both county and national authorities for answers, accountability and concrete measures to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
