Geoffrey Mosiria Breaks Silence & Makes Bold Claims Against Sakaja After He Fired Him From His Job

Geoffrey Mosiria has broken his silence following his removal from a key position in Nairobi County, launching a fresh attack on Governor Johnson Sakaja and accusing him of frustrating his work for nearly three years.

In a lengthy statement posted on Facebook, Mosiria claimed that his removal as Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service was merely the formal announcement of a decision he believes had effectively been made in December 2023, when he alleges his responsibilities were stripped away.

“Thank you, my boss, for making my sacking official. However, what you forgot to tell Nairobi residents and Kenyans is that you effectively dismissed me on 28th December 2023, when you took away my constitutionally assigned mandate as an Accounting Officer and handed it to my junior officers,” Mosiria stated.

He accused the governor of reducing his health budget from KSh1.2 billion to KSh100 million, claiming the move made it difficult for him to perform his duties.

Mosiria alleged that the decision followed his refusal to participate in procurement arrangements that he claimed would have favoured individuals connected to Sakaja and county contractors.

“You went ahead and reduced your dockets health budget from 1.2B to 100M so that I couldn’t have a budget to work, reasons being I refused to be used to do direct procurement favouring people around you and your contractors,” he wrote.

Mosiria further claimed that Sakaja confronted him during a WhatsApp conference call attended by the governor’s Chief of Staff, Osman Khalifa. He did not provide further details in the statement to independently substantiate the allegations.

The former chief officer said he was later transferred to the Environment docket, where he alleged that his director reported directly to the governor, leaving him with little meaningful work.

“I was left idle in office doing nothing. Instead of sitting idle in the office, I chose to go to the streets and lead operations meant to be handled by junior officers like my director because I still wanted to serve Nairobians,” Mosiria stated.

He also claimed to have endured attacks in official WhatsApp groups, public criticism and a court case that nearly resulted in six months’ imprisonment over alleged contempt of court. According to him, his subsequent transfer to customer service followed years of frustration within the county administration.

Mosiria maintained that he remained silent despite calls from bloggers for him to resign because he wanted an opportunity to deliver services and regain the governor’s trust.

“My last meeting with you as my boss … was on 28 December 2023, when you stripped me of my responsibilities at your private office in Riverside. Since then, my grievances have gone unheard,” he claimed.
