Nigerian comedian and skit maker, Samuel Animashaun Perry, popularly known as Broda Shaggi, has revealed that he was hit by a stray bullet in an incident that left him injured and forced him away from the public eye for several months.

The entertainer opened up about the traumatic experience in a video shared on social media, recounting an incident that occurred on March 9, 2026.

Shaggi reportedly sustained the gunshot injury around the Sango-Ota Bridge area of Ogun State while filming a comedy skit.

Following the incident, he was taken to a private hospital in Alakuko, Lagos, for initial treatment before being transferred to another medical facility in Ikeja.

The shooting sparked concern among his fans and colleagues, particularly after he stayed away from social media for an extended period.

“We were done shooting and got stuck in traffic. Suddenly, I heard a loud bang and everywhere went silent. I could see people talking, but I couldn’t hear anything. Then I touched my hip and saw blood. That was when I realised I had been hit by a stray bullet.”

In August, the comedian briefly addressed his absence in a message on his WhatsApp channel, thanking his supporters for their patience and encouragement.

“I wish I could tell y’all everything right now, but I can’t. Not yet,” he said.

His latest revelation provides further insight into the incident and the ordeal he experienced following the shooting.

Broda Shaggi is one of Nigeria’s best-known online comedians, recognised for his distinctive comic character, viral skits and acting roles in Nollywood productions.

He won the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Award for Best Actor in a Comedy, Movie or TV Series in 2022 and 2023.
