COMMENTSJulian Nagelsmann has, reportedly, been sounded out by Manchester United as a replacement for Michael Carrick.
Man Utd were beaten 4-1 by Como in the Champions League on Wednesday night, a result that stretches their winless run across all competitions to seven games.
Calls for Carrick to be sacked as Man United head coach grew even louder on social media following the result and talkSPORT claim the club now appearing to be preparing for life without him too.
The report states Carrick is now under immense pressure and as speculation surrounding his future intensifies, Nagelsmann has emerged as a candidate to replace him in the dugout at Old Trafford.
Nagelsmann, a former Bayern Munich manager, is currently a free agent after stepping down from his role as Germany boss after a disappointing World Cup campaign in the summer.
It is understood that the 39-year-old has admirers within the Red Devils hierarchy as he was considered before Carrick was appointed on a permanent basis in May.
In addition, talkSPORT claim Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler is seen as an option by United as he has admirers at the club too, but they are yet to express interest in Antonio Conte who has made it clear he would be open to taking charge.
Under pressure: Michael CarrickAFP/GettyCarrick, meanwhile, admitted he was “really angry” about Man United’s performance in their defeat by Como.
“I’m bitterly disappointed,” he said. “I’m frustrated, more than frustrated, I’m really angry to be honest.
“You’ve got to move on and think about what’s next. For us to play in that way is not acceptable, it wasn’t a good performance at all.”
