Trump pours $100 million in eleventh-hour scramble to try and save the doomed Republican majority after internal fury

President Donald Trump is vowing to pour hundreds of millions more into an already multibillion-dollar midterm election battle.

In a Truth Social post, the president said he had already spent more than $300 million on efforts to help his party, including advertising, voter outreach, rallies and get-out-the-vote operations.

And by Election Day, he’ll have spent over $400 million.

‘It is my Great Honor to do so on behalf of the Republican Party, which has done so much to bring our Country back from the Edge of Oblivion,’ Trump wrote.

The announcement comes as Trump has increasingly pointed to unrest in France as a warning about what he claims could happen under Democratic leadership.

At a rally in Kansas on Monday, Trump told the crowd, ‘When you see burning steeples and raging fires in France, just remember that is what the radical Dumocrats want to do to America.’

The protests in France have been driven in part by anger over the cost of living and underfunded public services, with demonstrations escalating into riots and looting in some areas.

The president was speaking in support of Republican Senator Roger Marshall, who faces a challenge from Democratic candidate Adam Hamilton in a race that has drawn national attention.

Trump’s warning comes as both parties pour immense sums of money into the final stretch of the midterm campaign, with control of Congress hanging in the balance.

Republicans are on course to spend more than Democrats on advertising across federal, state and local contests, according to figures reported by The Associated Press.

The figures put Republican advertising spending at around $2.2 billion, compared with approximately $1.8 billion for Democrats.

Trump’s own spending pledge is a significant part of that effort.

His political war chest includes MAGA Inc., his aligned super PAC, which held more than $400 million in cash at the end of July.

But the president’s decision to hold on to so much of that money had already sparked frustration among Republicans, who feared he would save it for his own political ambitions rather than help candidates fighting to hold on to their seats.

The Washington Post reported on September 3 that MAGA Inc had more than $400 million available but had yet to spend money in key competitive races.

With early voting approaching, Republican leaders were allegedly concerned that the money was not reaching campaigns quickly enough to make a difference.

Trump addressed the issue the following day, acknowledging that he expected to have funds left over for a potential 2028 presidential campaign.

‘I expect to have money left over, and we can use that for ’28,’ Trump told reporters.

The delay fueled anxiety among Republicans who believed the money could prove crucial in closely contested races.

Trump’s political operation eventually moved to ramp up advertising, with MAGA Inc. and other Trump-linked groups reserving more than $130 million in advertising in September, according to the Washington Post.

The spending has done little to halt tensions inside Trump’s political operation.

Reuters reported on October 17 that the president was blaming senior aides over the party’s midterm strategy, questioning campaign spending and the results of redistricting efforts.

Trump’s frustrations have allegedly centered on James Blair, the longtime aide who runs MAGA Inc., and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.

Advisers have also been blaming one another over the campaign’s performance, with Reuters describing the internal dispute as a ‘circular firing squad.’

That spending advantage comes as Democrats have increasingly sought to make the elections a referendum on Trump’s presidency, attacking Republicans over the cost of living, healthcare and the administration’s policies.

Meanwhile, outside groups have spent more than $1.2 billion on advertising in competitive congressional races, according to a Washington Post analysis published last week.

Republican-aligned groups have poured millions into key Senate contests, including races in Alaska and Maine, as the party fights to preserve its majority.

Trump has already held at least 15 midterm campaign rallies and stops to boost Republican candidates, with more events planned before Election Day on November 3.
