Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man, has said he can sleep in the worst hotel, stressing the importance of humility and simplicity regardless of one’s wealth or social status.
According to a report by PUNCH on Monday, October 19, 2026, Dangote made the remarks at an event tagged Vision 2030, where he spoke about the need for people to remain humble and avoid allowing their wealth or achievements to make them feel superior to others.
Dangote also accepted an invitation from content creator Adebayo Ridwan, popularly known as Bae U Barbie, to appear on his YouTube show, Curiosity Made Me Ask.
The billionaire industrialist explained that he could adapt to basic accommodation despite his wealth and status, adding that people should embrace simplicity and avoid placing themselves above others because of their financial success.
In Dangote’s words: “Today, if you take me to anywhere, if you take me to the worst hotel, I can sleep, I can have my shower, I can live. So because life is about simplicity, and make sure that, look, don’t take yourself up there.”
