LaLiga Table After Monday Match

Rayo Vallecano started the game with confidence and took the lead in the 11th minute when Alvaro Garcia finished from close range after receiving a pass from Jorge de Frutos. The visitors continued to control the ball and looked capable of adding to their advantage, but they failed to make their opportunities count as Getafe tried to find their way back into the contest.

The home side suffered a major setback in the 28th minute when Djene was shown a straight red card for bringing down Alvaro Garcia as the last defender. The dismissal forced Getafe to play with ten men for the remainder of the match, making their task more difficult against a Rayo side that enjoyed more possession.

Despite being a man down, Getafe refused to give up and continued looking for a way to get back into the game. Their efforts finally paid off in the 56th minute when Martin Satriano produced an excellent right-footed volley to beat the goalkeeper, with Francho Serrano providing the assist.

The equaliser gave Getafe renewed belief, while Rayo Vallecano increased their efforts to find a winning goal. The visitors had more of the ball and created several opportunities during the closing stages, but poor finishing and Getafe’s defensive efforts prevented them from finding the back of the net again.

Rayo Vallecano finished the match with 68 per cent possession, but they will be disappointed that they could not turn their dominance into a victory, especially after playing against ten men for more than an hour. Following the draw, Rayo Vallecano moved to 13th position on the LaLiga table with nine points, followed by Getafe in 14th place, also with nine points.
