Today’s Headlines:Tinubu Is My Friend,but I Dislike His Politics-Duke;GEJ Unveils Tricycle Factory
Former Cross River State Governor and presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, Donald Duke, has said his personal friendship with President Bola Tinubu remains intact despite his disagreement with the direction of the current administration.
Duke said his political differences with Tinubu should not be mistaken for personal animosity, noting that their relationship predates Tinubu’s presidency.
He spoke on Monday during an interview on Frontline, a current affairs programme on Eagle 102.5 FM, Ilese-Ijebu, monitored by DAILY POST in Abeokuta.
“President Tinubu is my friend since 1998, but I don’t like the direction he’s going. I think we will not achieve much going in this direction. But when it comes to personality, we remain friends,” Duke said.
Former President Goodluck Jonathan is billed to unveil a tricycle factory and products in Abuja, on Wednesday, October 21.
The factory, Zeetin Technologies, located in Idu Industrial Area, assembles and also distributes the VZ150 and VZ200 tricycles in Nigeria.
According to a statement by the management of Zeetin Technologies, the establishment of the factory is aimed at boosting the nation’s economy, through local production of tricycle and related products.
The statement signed by the company’s Chairman, Mr Robert Azibaola, disclosed that Zeetin for Nigerians, is a promise that everything the company builds is built for the success of the person who buys the brand.
For decades, three great dams in southern Kano held back billions of cubic metres of water while the farmlands around them waited. Tiga Dam was completed in 1974, Kafin Chiri in 1975 and Challawa Gorge in 1992. Each was built with the promise of year-round farming, yet large stretches of the land they were meant to serve stayed dry once the rains ended. It has taken the vision and political will of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to finally put that old promise to work.
The Kano River Irrigation Project intervention is a special ecological intervention of the Tinubu administration, implemented by the Ecological Project Office in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. It sits squarely within the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which places food security, agricultural productivity, job creation and the welfare of rural Nigerians at the centre of national development.
Two Bangladeshi nationals, identified as Nazrul Islam Abdul Basir and Siri Akhtar, have reportedly been executed in Saudi Arabia following their conviction over an alleged immoral act inside a mosque in Mecca.
Reports circulating on social media and seen by Vanguard showed that Bangladesh claimed the couple, who had travelled to Mecca for their honeymoon, were accused of kissing on the forehead inside the mosque.
The gesture was reportedly an expression of gratitude to Allah for their marriage.
The reports further claimed that the couple’s bodies had been returned to Bangladesh in two coffins for burial.
