Kwankwaso Was In The Villa On The Offer Of The President That He Should Come And Serve With Him—Sale

Dr. Habibu Sale Mohammed, spokesman of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, has revealed that President Bola Tinubu invited Rabiu Kwankwaso to the Presidential Villa and offered him a position in his administration, but the former Kano State governor rejected the offer.

Sale made this known during an interview on Trust TV while responding to claims that Kwankwaso might be working for Tinubu because of his previous visit to the Presidential Villa.

The Kwankwasiyya spokesman explained that Kwankwaso’s visit to the President should not be interpreted as evidence of a political agreement or an indication that the former governor was secretly supporting Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.

According to Sale, Kwankwaso visited the Villa a few months after Tinubu’s inauguration in 2023, following an invitation from the President, who reportedly wanted him to work with his administration.

Speaking about the meeting, Sale said, “Kwankwaso was in the Villa, virtually, a few months after the inauguration of the administration and on the offer of the president, that he should come and serve with him, which he flatly refused.”

Sale maintained that Kwankwaso’s decision to visit the Villa did not mean he had accepted Tinubu’s offer or agreed to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He also argued that there had been no statement from Tinubu or his representatives suggesting that an agreement had been reached with Kwankwaso to join the APC.

The spokesman’s remarks came amid questions about Kwankwaso’s political relationship with Tinubu, particularly following reports of their meeting at the Presidential Villa.

Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State and the vice-presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), is now aligned with the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, ahead of the 2027 elections.

Sale also discussed the political relationship between Tinubu and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, arguing that the President had a stronger political relationship with Atiku than with Kwankwaso.

He pointed to the political history shared by Kwankwaso and Atiku, noting that both men had previously worked together in the same party before eventually moving to another political platform.
