Reality star Mackayla ‘Kash’ Paige was shot dead at 29 in the fracas of a wild brawl outside an Oakland, California nightclub and a new report claims that it was her sister who pulled the trigger.

The Oakland Police Department (OPD) has confirmed to the Daily Mail that Paige’s sister Vernika Dunbar, 38, has been arrested in connection with the homicide of her sister as she was taken into custody that same day Sunday, October 11.

The Alameda District Attorney has filed a felony involuntary manslaughter charge against Paige’s sister Dunbar according to San Francisco area Fox affiliate KTVU.

The site reports that OPD claim that Dunbar had initially come to the defense of her sister by attempting to pistol-whip a woman who was fighting with Paige.

However, according to their law enforcement sources, Dunbar ended up firing a bullet that had struck her sister, who proceeded to be transported to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

The Daily Mail has reached out to The Alameda District Attorney for comment and has yet to hear back.

Paige was best known for appearing on the shows Young & Reckless, Real West Coast Baddies and RoomH8z.

KTVU originally reported that Paige was gunned down on the 200 block of 14th St in Oakland around 1.30am PT on Sunday, October 11, according to the Oakland Police Department.

Police said that Paige was discovered with a gunshot wound when they arrived at the scene.

She was taken to a hospital and was pronounced dead there, according to KTVU.

Paige had reportedly shared videos of herself out at a nightclub earlier in the night, KTVU reported.

So far, police haven’t shared any details about what may have led to the deadly shooting.

However, they revealed that a woman from Richmond, California, had been arrested in connection with the shooting.

Police have also not disclosed the identity of the arrested woman, but the department’s Homicide Section has launched an investigation into the shooting.

Paige was best known for her appearances on multiple reality shows that aired on the streaming platform Now That’s TV.

The shows were noted for focusing on dramatic and sometimes violent confrontations between their stars.

According to KTVU, Paige’s friends and family had gathered around a makeshift memorial set up near the site of the shooting on Monday

A woman who identified herself as Poodahh and described herself as one of Paige’s girlfriends told the outlet: ‘Oh my God, she was so fun. Was she not hella fun? Oh my God, this girl was so fun. She had us everywhere.’

Nicky Clayton, who said she was Paige’s cousin, said that the late reality star ‘wanted to be famous so bad.’

‘She still had morals, don’t get me wrong,’ Clayton clarified. ‘She wanted to be a reality star. She [wanted] to start her own business. She was modeling for a lot of companies, and she really wanted to do makeup.’

Paige’s cousin, Azima King, opened up about how distressed she felt in the wake of the tragic shooting.

‘Honestly, I don’t know how I feel. I’m floating. Shaking. I’ve been shaking since yesterday,’ she said.
