Davis, 63, was found guilty of first-degree murder in August, and a Las Vegas court delivered the sentence on Tuesday, October 13.

Addressing Davis during the sentencing, Judge Carli Kierny highlighted the long wait for justice and the severity of the crime.

“You don’t get to take a man from his family,” Judge Kierny told Davis. “You don’t get to take his very life, his whole future, from him… especially when that man is Tupac Shakur.”

Prosecutors pushed for the maximum penalty, pointing to Davis’s repeated attempts to profit from the killing over the years. Prosecutor Marc DiGiacomo argued that Davis earned the harsh sentence through his continuous actions and total lack of remorse. Meanwhile, defence attorney Michael Sanft requested a 40-year term and confirmed plans to appeal the conviction.

Before the judge delivered the verdict, Tupac’s sister, Sekyiwa, and brother, Maurice, shared how the tragedy deeply affected their lives.

Sekyiwa described the emotional pain her family suffered over the nearly three decades since her brother’s death, stating that the loss caused severe mental health struggles and hospitalizations. She spoke about missing everyday moments with her brother, including his laugh, his cooking, and his physical presence.
