Arsenal UEFA Champions League Fixtures Officially Moved Due to Strikes

According to a report by London Evening Standard on Wednesday October 14, 2026, Arsenal Women’s Champions League clash against Barcelona has been rescheduled from Wednesday, November 11, to Thursday, November 12, due to a planned general strike in Spain.

The match will still take place at Camp Nou, with kick-off remaining at 6:45 pm local time, which is 5:45 pm in the UK. UEFA approved the change following concerns about disruptions that could affect the fixture.

Arsenal confirmed the rearrangement on Wednesday morning after Barcelona reportedly requested a new date. The planned strike has received support from Spanish trade unions, including CCOO and UGT, amid concerns about housing access, wages and the rising cost of living.

Transport disruption was among the major concerns surrounding the original date. The industrial action could also have affected stadium access, security arrangements and other preparations required to host the European fixture.

Reports had previously highlighted potential difficulties with pre-match press conferences and training sessions at the venue. UEFA subsequently approved the postponement after determining that the necessary conditions for staging the game might not be met on November 11.

Barcelona initially explored the possibility of moving the match forward to Tuesday, November 10. However, that option proved difficult for Arsenal because they are scheduled to face Liverpool away in the Women’s Super League on Sunday, November 8.

Playing the European fixture earlier would have created additional scheduling complications for the Gunners. The eventual decision was reached in agreement with both clubs and in accordance with competition regulations.

Despite the change, the venue and kick-off time will remain the same. Supporters who purchased tickets for the original date can use them for the rescheduled fixture on November 12.

Fans who cannot attend on the revised date are entitled to a full refund. The one-day postponement is intended to minimise disruption while allowing both teams to prepare adequately.

Arsenal will now travel to Barcelona a day later than initially planned. Both sides will continue preparing for their important Champions League league-phase encounter under the revised schedule.
