Lagos announces date to demolish distressed 25-storey GNI House

Lagos State Government has announced plans to commence the controlled demolition of the structurally distressed Great Nigeria Insurance House on Lagos Island on Thursday, October 15, 2026, as part of measures to protect lives and property.The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, said the demolition followed structural assessments by relevant agencies, which confirmed that the building posed a significant risk to public safety.
