2027 Elections: Wike, Soludo, Adeleke Named in Tinubu’s Revised APC Presidential Campaign Council
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has included Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo; and Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, in its expanded Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general election.
The revised list, released on Monday night, October 12, 2026, features political figures from different parties as President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign prepares to intensify its activities.
According to the list, Wike will coordinate the APC presidential campaign in Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory, while Soludo will oversee campaign activities in Anambra State. Adeleke has been named coordinator for Osun State.
The appointments have attracted attention because the three politicians have political affiliations outside the ruling party. Wike is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Soludo belongs to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), while Adeleke won the 2026 Osun governorship election on the platform of the Accord Party.
President Tinubu is listed as chairman of the campaign council, which was initially unveiled in August. The expanded structure is expected to bring together party leaders, serving officials, former governors and other political figures to coordinate mobilisation ahead of the election.
Former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari retains his position as Director-General of the council.
Under the revised arrangement, Senate President Godswill Akpabio has been appointed Deputy Vice-Chairman I, while Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas becomes Deputy Vice-Chairman II. Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has been named Deputy Vice-Chairman III.
Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni will serve as Deputy Director-General I for the North, while Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin has been assigned the position of Deputy Director-General II for the region.
Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu have also been appointed deputy director-generals for the South.
The revised list further names all 32 APC governors as campaign coordinators for their respective states, while other political figures have been assigned responsibilities relating to mobilisation, administration and campaign planning.
Former Ogun State governors Ibikunle Amosun and Segun Osoba, former Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, and several other party leaders have also been included in the expanded structure.
The campaign council is expected to be inaugurated by Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday, October 14.
The development comes as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general election, with the APC seeking to coordinate its nationwide campaign through an expanded network of political stakeholders.
The inclusion of politicians from different party backgrounds highlights the broad political alliances being assembled around Tinubu’s re-election campaign. However, their appointments do not, by themselves, establish any change in their formal party affiliations.
