KPLC Warning: Prepare for Long Hours of Power Blackout Tomorrow, If You Live in the Following Areas

The Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has issued a fresh warning to customers over planned electricity interruptions scheduled for Tuesday, October 13, 2026, with several residential, commercial and institutional areas expected to remain without power for hours.

The maintenance exercise will affect parts of Nairobi, Kajiado, Kiambu and Nandi counties, with some customers facing interruptions from as early as 8.00 a.m. until 5.00 p.m.

Residents, traders and institutions in the affected locations have been urged to prepare in advance to avoid disruptions to their daily activities.

The planned outages could affect businesses that depend on electricity to operate equipment, serve customers and maintain normal operations.

Households and other facilities relying on a consistent power supply should also take note of the scheduled times and make the necessary arrangements before the maintenance begins.

In Nairobi, customers in parts of Ngara and Westlands should prepare for an interruption running from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

The affected locations include parts of Kolobot Road, Taarifu Road, Ojijo Road, Westlands Hill, Chiromo Road, Muthithi Road and Mpaka Road. Woodvale Road, ABC Bank, Paramount Plaza and adjacent customers are also included in the notice.

The interruption is expected to affect customers across sections of the busy commercial areas, making it important for businesses and residents to plan around the eight-hour outage.

In Kajiado County, customers around Nkoroi and Matasia face a longer interruption, with electricity scheduled to go off from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

The affected locations include Kimani Road, Gataka Road, Mayor Road, Masai Lodge Road, Nazarene University, Olekasasi, Tuala, Sigma Feeds, Emakoko, Kedlenye and neighbouring customers.

Parts of Kiambu County will also experience an outage from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. KPLC has listed part of Rumenye, the Safaricom Data Centre and adjacent customers among those expected to be affected.

Meanwhile, customers in Nandi County should prepare for a shorter interruption around Olessos Technical. The outage is scheduled to run from 10.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m., affecting Olessos Technical, Timbili, Cheptuingeny and adjacent customers.

Customers in all the listed areas should charge essential electronic devices in advance and plan activities that depend on electricity around the announced maintenance hours. Businesses may also need to adjust their operations to reduce potential inconvenience during the interruptions.

Those living and working in the affected locations are advised to check the notice carefully and prepare before Tuesday morning, particularly in areas where the power interruption is expected to last for most of the working day.
