Kelly Clarkson’s Feud With Brooklyn Store Sparks Internet Debate: All the Funniest Reactions

Over the weekend, The Voice coach, 44, claimed she had been “treated like Julia Roberts’ character in Pretty Woman” while visiting Art of Play in New York.

“Just drove all the way to Brooklyn to check out this store I thought looked really rad and had a few things in mind to buy and literally was looked at as if I couldn’t afford it and was told he could find something comparable for me,” Clarkson wrote via X on October 10. “Wow, dude. You’re an idiot and just lost a huge sale.”

Since then, the owners of Art of Play have defended their staff while Clarkson has maintained her customer service experience was not a positive one.

“I obviously support small businesses because I was literally at a small business trying to purchase things,” Clarkson wrote via X on October 11. “I love small businesses and know they are important and I always support them, but you don’t get a free pass to treat people less than in your store just because you are a small business. It’s not that hard to be kind. I never blast people but you my friend were an exception. Your store is really cool. Unfortunately, you aren’t.

The back-and-forth has grabbed the attention of the internet, with some companies and personalities having some fun with the beef.

The comedian and “Las Culturistas” podcast cohost reacted to the drama by sharing a screenshot of Art of Play on Google Maps with Kelly Clarkson’s “Never Again” playing in the background.

“I really relate to Kelly Clarkson because I had the exact same experience when I tried to buy Pasqually P Pieplate at Chuck E. Cheese,” the Fired Up author wrote via X on October 11 after the American Idol alum shared that she had attempted to purchase a $15,000 mechanical bird named Molly.

“Okay fine I will investigate the Kelly Clarkson bird story,” the host of the “Pablo Torre Finds Out” podcast wrote via X.

“Kelly Clarkson isn’t exactly known for causing drama or being mean, so I’m guessing someone was simply super-rude to her and it pissed her off, and it looks she has some receipts,” the End of Discussion author wrote via X.
