HELB Announces Disbursebent of Loans for Select Batches

HELB asked beneficiaries to check whether their batch numbers are among the successfully processed ones.

The  Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) announced on Monday, October 12, that it had disbursed student loans across seven batches.

In a notice issued to beneficiaries, HELB published the batch numbers and asked students to cross-check with their institutions of higher learning whether the funds had been reflected.

Students can also confirm whether the funds have reflected in their personal account numbers.

“The latest batch update is out! Check the poster to see if your batch number is among those successfully processed and disbursed, the notice read.

The batch numbers whose funds have been processed include: 007062, 007166, 007170, 007171, 007163, 007150 and 007148.

HELB had processed funds earlier for five batches for the 2026/27 academic year, including 007139, 007145, 007147, 007146 and 007132.

Meanwhile, the Loans Board reached out to employed beneficiaries with incentives to clear the loans. HELB announced that those who paid the loans in lump sums would enjoy great discounts on the loan interest.

“Your payslip deserves a break. Repay your HELB loan in lump sum and get up to 80% waiver on outstanding penalties. Don’t miss this window! Send us a direct message to get started,” HELB wrote.

Earlier, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba directed the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) and the University Fund to reopen the applications for first-time applicants, including first-year students joining universities.

CS Ogamba explained that some students could have been locked out when the application window was closed on August 31, 2026.

He announced that the deadline has been extended by three weeks to allow eligible students to submit their applications for tertiary education funding.

“Recognising that some eligible students and trainees may not have met the initial deadline on account of various causes, the Universities Fund and the Higher Education Loans Board have been directed to extend the application window for all eligible applicants to 21st September 2026.
