Ruto To Uhuru – How Can You Tell Kenyans They Made A Mistake Electing Me?

President William Ruto has hit back at his predecessor, Uhuru Kenyatta, questioning his criticism of the 2022 election that brought him to power.

Speaking during a rally in Ziwa, Uasin Gishu County, Ruto reminded Kenyatta of their political partnership in the 2013 and 2017 elections, questioning why the former President was now opposing him.

Ruto also defended his administration’s economic record, accusing the previous government of leaving the country with heavy debts and economic challenges. He cited the recruitment of teachers, changes to university funding, efforts to stabilise inflation and the expansion of healthcare services among his government’s key initiatives.

The President also pointed to increased foreign direct investment, saying it had grown from $1.6 billion to $3.2 billion, and highlighted efforts to expand universal health coverage.

Turning to the 2027 General Election, Ruto called for an end to ethnic divisions in politics, saying the country should focus on development rather than political disputes.

Meanwhile, local leaders at the rally thanked the national government for funding a Level 5 hospital serving residents from Uasin Gishu and neighbouring counties. They also called for the establishment of an oncology unit to improve access to cancer treatment.
