Gachagua’s Lawyers Feud Deepens as One Dramatically Walks Out After Finding Mp Njeri Maina at Studio
Lawyer Ndegwa Njiru walked out of a Monday radio discussion after arriving at the studio and finding Kirinyaga Woman Representative Njeri Maina already present, raising questions about the growing political tensions between the two lawyers associated with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Njiru, who serves as Wiper Party spokesperson, was expected to participate in Kunora Kiwakili, a legal discussion segment hosted by Baby Top during her Cjamuka show. However, upon discovering Maina’s presence, he expressed reservations about the atmosphere and opted out of the programme.
“No nidirona environment iria iguku ti friendly so I would really wish to opt out for this discussion. Nie nimukanjigiria ciura ciakwa Monday ningoka tu discuss with all due respect,” Njiru said, explaining that he did not consider the environment friendly and would prefer to return the following Monday.
The incident is particularly striking because Njiru and Maina have both occasionally represented Gachagua in legal matters, making their apparent discomfort in sharing the same radio platform an intriguing development.
Their relationship has also been overshadowed by political differences, with Njiru accusing Maina and Kirinyaga Senator James Murango of undermining him following his appointment as Wiper spokesperson.
The tension comes as Njiru has declared his intention to contest the Kirinyaga Senate seat, where DCP-aligned leaders reportedly have a preferred candidate of their own, setting the stage for a potential political contest within the broader Gachagua-aligned camp.
The Kûnòrà Kiwakili segment regularly brings together lawyers and political figures to discuss legal and public affairs. Njiru’s decision to walk out after finding Maina at the studio has now added another twist to the political rivalry surrounding Kirinyaga’s future.
