The interaction quickly attracted attention after the resident celebrated the handshake with Cristiano Ronaldo’s famous “Siuuu” celebration, turning an ordinary greeting into an entertaining moment.

The incident highlighted the lighter side of the president’s public engagements, where citizens get opportunities to interact directly with the country’s leader and express themselves freely.

According to footage shared by JoyNews and Kessben Digital, the resident appeared delighted after receiving the handshake he had requested from Mahama during the gathering.

His reaction added humour to the occasion, with the familiar football celebration making the exchange particularly memorable for those who witnessed it.

Ronaldo’s signature “Siuuu” celebration is widely recognised among football fans across the world. The Portuguese superstar popularised the move through his goal celebrations, which typically involve a leap, a turn and an energetic landing accompanied by an enthusiastic shout.

Over the years, the celebration has become a popular gesture among supporters, athletes and members of the public seeking to express excitement or mark a special moment.

In this case, the Ahafo resident borrowed the iconic celebration to demonstrate his happiness after receiving the president’s handshake, creating a moment that combined politics, entertainment and football culture.

Mahama’s interaction with the resident also reflected the personal exchanges that often characterise citizens’ engagements, allowing members of the public to approach leaders and share their experiences in a more informal setting.

Such encounters can create memorable moments beyond the formal discussions typically associated with political gatherings, particularly when citizens express their excitement in unexpected ways.

The handshake may have lasted only a few seconds, but the resident’s reaction gave the encounter an additional dimension that made it stand out.

The moment also demonstrated how globally recognised football celebrations have become part of everyday expression, extending beyond stadiums into public gatherings and social interactions.

As the footage circulates, the resident’s enthusiastic reaction offers a lighthearted reminder that even a brief encounter with a national leader can become a treasured personal experience.

For the Ahafo resident, receiving the handshake was clearly worth celebrating, and Ronaldo’s famous “Siuuu” provided the perfect finishing touch to the memorable encounter.
