In a statement dated October 11, 2026, and signed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the NPP said it had received numerous complaints that some members seeking to contest parliamentary primaries had begun campaigning in various constituencies.

The party described the activities as contrary to its regulations and Code of Conduct, warning that such conduct could create an uneven playing field and undermine party unity and discipline.

“The Party accordingly directs, with immediate effect, that all prospective parliamentary aspirants, their agents and supporters cease all forms of campaign activities,” the statement said.

The party outlined several activities that prospective parliamentary aspirants must suspend with immediate effect.

These include mounting posters, billboards, banners and other branded materials to promote their candidacies, as well as organising rallies, meetings with polling station executives or constituency tours intended to solicit support.

The directive also prohibits the distribution of items or other inducements to delegates and party members.

Additionally, prospective aspirants are barred from using paid media and social media advertising to promote their parliamentary ambitions.

The NPP further directed party officers at the polling station, electoral area, constituency, regional and national levels, as well as TESCON, to refrain from posting or promoting parliamentary aspirants on social media platforms, including Facebook, X and Instagram.

The party said its officers must not facilitate or encourage what it described as premature parliamentary campaign activities.

The NPP cautioned that individuals who disregard the directive would face disciplinary action in accordance with the party’s established procedures.

According to the statement, violations could also affect the eligibility of prospective aspirants to contest in the party’s parliamentary selection process.

The warning underscores the party leadership’s intention to enforce its internal regulations and maintain discipline among members ahead of the next phase of its parliamentary processes.

The party has consequently tasked constituency and regional executives with ensuring strict compliance with the directive within their respective jurisdictions.

The NPP said it would announce the timetable and guidelines governing its parliamentary processes in due course.

Until then, all prospective aspirants and their supporters are expected to comply with the directive and refrain from activities aimed at soliciting support for their candidacies.

The party called on its members to cooperate with the leadership, stressing the importance of unity and discipline in safeguarding the party’s interests.

The directive comes as the party seeks to regulate early campaigning and ensure that its parliamentary selection processes are conducted in accordance with its rules and established procedures.
