The Wiper leader framed the move as a routine conclusion to a specific arrangement, saying Sifuna had initially requested two people to help conduct rallies across the country. With that assignment completed, Kalonzo said the MPs were now back in their home regions.

Kalonzo said the two leaders, who were present at the rally, are now expected to concentrate on Wiper Party activities and leave Sifuna to also popularise his party.
Despite the recall, Kalonzo maintained that the broader opposition coalition remained intact, saying the two camps would continue to "unite to ensure this fake government goes home."

The directive drew attention because it coincides with competing efforts by opposition leaders to strengthen their own political brands.
Sifuna, who leads the Linda Mwananchi movement and is seeking to rebrand The Equitable Party (TEP) under that name, has been building grassroots support independently of Kalonzo's Ukombozi Alliance.
The senator had previously stated publicly that there was no rift between himself and Kalonzo over the Ukombozi name, as the Linda Mwananchi Movement accommodated several parties within its fold.
However, the recall of the two Wiper MPs suggests the two camps are increasingly drawing boundaries over grassroots mobilisation and party recruitment ahead of coalition negotiations.
The opposition has yet to announce a joint presidential flagbearer for 2027, and internal pressure is mounting, with Sifuna's allies insisting he must feature on the presidential ballot. Polls suggest the Kalonzo-Sifuna ticket is the preferred opposition choice.

Kalonzo conducted the coastal tour alongside Democratic Party leader Justin Muturi and DAP-Kenya leader Eugene Wamalwa, presenting what he described as a united front under the Ukombozi Alliance banner.
