Hansi Flick: Lamine Yamal ‘Will Be The Best In The World If He Isn’t Already’

Share on Twitter Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has spoken out about Lamine Yamal, who is regarded one of the favourites for the Ballon d’Or, which is awarded to the finest player in the world of football.

“If he isn’t already the finest player in the world, he soon will be.

“He is right up there, very close,” he stated at Barcelona’s pre-match press conference before the game against Getafe as quoted by Barca Blaugranes.

“If he keeps going like this—striving to improve and maintaining this mindset—he’ll do wonderfully.”

It is Barcelona’s first match following a lengthy international break, which Flick admits he does not enjoy.

“An extended break is part of our profession. I dislike it, but I cannot change it. We aren’t the only ones; the other teams are in the same situation, so all that remains is to concentrate on the next match,” he remarked.

Yamal participated in the international break with FIFA World Cup champions Spain.

They defeated England 3-2, with Yamal scoring. He also scored twice and assisted once in a 4-1 home triumph over Croatia, as well as a goal against Czechia in a 3-1 victory.

The only match in which he did not score a goal was the 2-1 victory over Croatia in the return matchup in Split.

He’s playing at an elite level, including for Spain. “I saw him in London; I was there,” Flicks explains.

Flick believes Yamal and other young players, such Pau Cubarsí, may be able to play more minutes than other players returning from international games.
