Murder Suspect Reveals Wahu’s HIV Status After They Tested Before Tragedy At Airbnb
Murder suspect John Matara has told the High Court in Nairobi that he and Scarlett Wahu, the sister of Pastor Victor Kanyari, tested negative for HIV before an encounter in South B, where Wahu was later found dead.
Testifying in his defence, Matara said the two had discussed their HIV status before becoming intimate. He further claimed that Wahu suggested they have unprotected sex, but maintained that he remained mindful of the condoms they had brought along.
Matara is facing a murder charge over Wahu’s death after her body was discovered in an apartment in Nairobi’s South B area. He has denied the accusation.
During his testimony, the accused recounted details of their encounter and their interactions before the incident, presenting his version of events to the court as part of his defence.
His claims concerning the HIV tests and the discussion about condom use formed part of the evidence he gave while explaining the circumstances surrounding their relationship.
The court is expected to examine Matara’s account alongside the evidence presented by the prosecution as the trial progresses. His testimony represents his version of events and does not, on its own, establish the circumstances of Wahu’s death.
Wahu’s death attracted considerable public attention, with the case continuing to generate interest as details emerge through court proceedings.
The prosecution is seeking to establish Matara’s responsibility for the alleged offence, while he maintains his innocence and has presented his defence before the court.
As the proceedings continue, the court will consider the evidence and testimony from both sides before reaching a determination in the case. The claims made during Matara’s testimony remain subject to examination through the judicial process.
