“We Won’t Touch His Wealth” Chivayo’s Family Reveals Who Will Get His Multi-Billion Fortune

The family of Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo has shed light on how his vast estate is expected to be handled following his death in a helicopter crash, revealing that the businessman had already expressed his wishes concerning his wealth.

Chivayo died on Wednesday, September 30, after the helicopter he was travelling in crashed near Marondera, Zimbabwe. His wife, Lucy Muteke, and several other people aboard the aircraft also lost their lives in the accident.

As relatives, friends and high-profile personalities gathered to mourn the businessman, attention quickly turned to the future of the considerable wealth he accumulated during his lifetime.

On Friday, October 2, Chivayo’s uncle and family spokesperson, Herbert Chivayo, addressed mourners at the late businessman’s Harare residence.

Herbert said Chivayo had clearly indicated who he wanted to inherit his wealth, with his children expected to receive the largest portion of his estate.

According to the family spokesperson, Chivayo had repeatedly expressed his wish for his children to benefit from his fortune and grow up with a lasting memory of their father.

Herbert also appeared to dismiss any possibility of a dispute among members of the wider family over the estate. He said the Chivayo family had no interest in claiming a share of the businessman’s hard-earned wealth, insisting that his children were the rightful beneficiaries.

The revelations provide an early indication of how Chivayo’s multi-billion estate could be distributed, with his children likely to remain at the heart of the inheritance process.

Chivayo was widely recognised for his luxurious lifestyle, extensive business interests and relationships with prominent personalities. His unexpected death has consequently left behind a substantial estate that is expected to attract significant public and family attention as arrangements for its management take shape.

Funeral plans for Chivayo and his wife were still being finalised at the time of reporting.
