People call Zodwa Wabantu ugly and ask how men sleep with her

People reacting to a viral interview clip of Zodwa Wabantu focused on her appearance, with some asking how men could sleep with her while describing her as ugly. In the interview, Wabantu speaks about not fitting conventional ideas of female beauty and says this has meant she could not rely on being attractive to get what she wanted, instead having to work for the things she has achieved. The reaction shifted attention from her comments about having to work hard to the very appearance based criticism she was discussing.

The source stops short of explaining what prompted the interview, since the clip does not show what she was asked or what project she was discussing. The post also does not say when the interview took place or where it was recorded. Those details matter because they would explain the context of her comments. Without them, the clip shows only her remarks and the reaction to them.

The reaction online included people describing her as ugly and asking how men could sleep with her, while others said the criticism proved the point she was making about how women who do not fit conventional beauty standards are treated. Some questioned why the reaction had ignored her comments about hard work and focused only on her looks. The reaction centred on her appearance rather than on her message.

It has not been confirmed whether Wabantu has responded to the latest criticism or whether the interview will lead to further discussion about beauty standards. Wabantu has previously spoken publicly about being called ugly and facing repeated criticism over her appearance, making the latest reaction part of a wider pattern of scrutiny. The public is waiting to see whether she addresses the comments.
