Kalonzo Takes Ukombozi Campaign to Mombasa, Declares ‘Wantam’ Inevitable

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has taken his Ukombozi Alliance message to Mombasa, declaring that the coastal city should prepare for what he described as an unstoppable political wave ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Speaking to supporters, Kalonzo said the Ukombozi movement had arrived in Mombasa and expressed confidence that the political alliance would attract significant support across the Coast region.

“Mombasa, get ready for the wave. Wantam is inevitable. Ukombozi has arrived in Mombasa!” Kalonzo declared.

The former Vice President used the occasion to rally residents behind the opposition movement, presenting Ukombozi as a platform for political change and greater unity ahead of the next elections.

Kalonzo has increasingly positioned Ukombozi as a major vehicle for bringing together opposition leaders and parties seeking an alternative to President William Ruto’s administration.

The opposition leader has also maintained that political unity will be critical if the opposition is to mount a serious challenge in the 2027 presidential contest.

His remarks in Mombasa come as political parties and leaders continue to reorganise ahead of the elections, with several alliances seeking to establish strong regional networks and build support beyond their traditional strongholds.

The Coast region is expected to play an important role in the 2027 political contest because of its substantial voting population and its history of influencing national political outcomes.

By taking the Ukombozi message to Mombasa, Kalonzo is seeking to strengthen the alliance’s presence in a region where national political parties are expected to compete aggressively for support.

The phrase “Wantam,” which has increasingly featured in Kalonzo’s political messaging, is being used to project the idea of a united political force capable of challenging the current administration.

Kalonzo’s latest remarks also highlight the growing political activity within the opposition camp as leaders position themselves for the 2027 election.

The Ukombozi Alliance has been presented as a broader political platform that could bring together like-minded parties and leaders ahead of the polls.

However, the opposition faces the challenge of maintaining unity and agreeing on a presidential candidate capable of commanding nationwide support.

For now, Kalonzo’s message remains focused on mobilisation, unity and political change.

His declaration in Mombasa signals that Ukombozi intends to expand its footprint beyond its traditional political base and establish itself as a national movement.

As the 2027 election approaches, the Coast region is likely to become an important battleground, with competing political formations seeking to win the support of its voters.

Kalonzo’s message was therefore both a rallying call to his supporters and a clear indication that Ukombozi is preparing for a wider national political campaign.
