Big Win for Sifuna as Good News Arrives from One of Kenya’s Top Vote Blocs After Unveiling New Party

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has been urged to make his newly launched political party a national outfit as he prepares for the 2027 General Election.

Bumula MP Jack Wanami made the call during the unveiling of Sifuna’s new party, The Equitable Party, on Sunday, October 4, 2026.

Wanami asked Sifuna to look beyond his home region and give leaders from other parts of Kenya space to join and grow the party.

“Sifuna, please make your party national. We from your region will step back and give you the space to ensure that it becomes a national movement,” Wanami said.

His remarks came as several leaders gathered in Nairobi to support Sifuna’s latest political move.

The leaders said the new party should bring together Kenyans from different communities as the country heads toward the 2027 elections.

Wanami’s call also reflects the wider push by Sifuna’s allies to build a political movement that extends beyond Western Kenya.

The Star reported that other leaders at the launch also urged Sifuna to give the party a national outlook and ensure different communities are represented.

The new party comes after months of political mobilisation by Sifuna and his allies under the Linda Mwananchi movement.

Sifuna has been holding political meetings and rallies in different parts of the country as his supporters position him for a bigger role in the 2027 election.

The party’s launch now gives the senator a formal political vehicle as discussions around opposition unity and the presidential race continue.

Wanami has previously been involved in Sifuna’s political mobilisation in Western Kenya, where several leaders have publicly backed the senator’s political ambitions.

However, building a national party will require support beyond one region, with leaders from different parts of Kenya expected to play a role.

As the 2027 election approaches, Sifuna and his allies will now face the task of expanding the party’s membership and political reach across the country.

Wanami’s message was therefore clear: the new party should move beyond regional politics and seek a national identity.
