Prepare for Heavy Rains for the Next 24-Hours if You Live in the Following Parts of the Country

The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a 24-hour weather advisory warning residents across 11 counties to prepare for incoming rainfall, localized thunderstorms, and strong winds valid through October 6, 2026. The weather alert highlights active systems stretching across the coastal belt, the Lake Victoria basin, and northern frontier regions.

Coastal counties including Kwale, Mombasa, Kilifi, and Lamu are slated for light to moderate precipitation driven by onshore moisture. Over in the Lake Victoria basin, Kisumu is expected to experience morning light showers extending into the afternoon on October 6, 2026, while surrounding western zones like Siaya, Bungoma, and Busia anticipate late-day showers alongside daytime highs reaching up to 32°C in Migori.

Northern Kenya faces some of the most active atmospheric conditions on October 6, 2026. Wajir and Mandera remain on alert for moderate showers accompanied by localized thunderstorms, even as maximum temperatures hover near 34°C. Additionally, strong southerly to southeasterly winds exceeding 25 knots are projected to sweep through parts of Turkana, Samburu, and Marsabit.

Central and eastern areas including Meru, Tharaka-Nithi, Embu, Kitui, and Makueni are set for predominantly partly cloudy skies with highs ranging from 27°C to 32°C on October 6, 2026. Meanwhile, Nairobi and key Rift Valley hubs like Nakuru, Narok, Kajiado, and Kericho will see mostly stable conditions featuring afternoon sunshine and maximum temperatures around 26°C to 28°C.
