ASR District: Road Damaged by Rains, Pregnant Woman Carried 8 Km in Doli

Visakhapatnam:  A 27-year-old pregnant woman was carried in a doli for nearly 8 km to reach a hospital after heavy rains damaged the road leading to her village in Alluri Sitarama Raju district.

According to reports, Damini, wife of Korra Mangaraju and a resident of Tadakapalle village in Ammaravi Dharakonda panchayat of Gudem Kothaveedi mandal, went into labour on Thursday night.

As her condition required medical attention, family members decided to take her to the hospital on Friday morning. However, the road connecting Tadakapalli had been damaged due to the rains, making it difficult even for two-wheelers to pass through.

With no other option, the family members carried Damini in a doli for around 8 km to Shyamagadda. From there, she was taken in a jeep to a hospital in Chintapalli.

Damini later gave birth to a baby girl at the hospital. Both the mother and the newborn are safe and healthy.
