Photos: Meet the Mother of Chivayo’s Two Children Who Won a Huge Divorce Payout

Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo’s divorce from his first wife, Sonja Louise Madzikanda, has ended in a multimillion-dollar settlement, and photographs of the former couple together have now emerged online, drawing fresh attention to the case.

The images, which show Madzikanda alongside the flamboyant tycoon, have circulated widely on social media. They offer a glimpse into the years the two spent together before their marriage unravelled and landed in court.

According to court records, Zimbabwe’s High Court approved a consent settlement in April 2026 that sees US$5 million placed in an account controlled by Madzikanda for the benefit of the couple’s two children.

Of that amount, US$2.2 million has already been paid, while Chivayo was directed to clear the remaining US$2.8 million within 30 days.

The money is meant to be invested for the children. Chivayo will keep oversight of the account, and the returns will eventually help pay for their upkeep.

For the first twelve months after the transfer, he has also agreed to cover their reasonable living costs while Madzikanda builds the investment portfolio. Once that period ends, expenses are expected to be met from the investment returns where possible.

The settlement is far below what Madzikanda first demanded. Her original court papers sought US$25 million, along with several properties, financial support and seven luxury vehicles, including Rolls Royce models, a Range Rover, a Mercedes Benz V Class and a Maybach.

The wider dispute over property was handled separately from the maintenance deal, which means the US$5 million agreement does not necessarily settle every question about assets gathered during the relationship.

Under the parenting arrangement, Madzikanda has primary residence of the children, while Chivayo has structured access that includes weekends, public holidays and one week every month.

As the old photographs continue to trend, the case remains a striking example of the large sums that can be at stake when a high-profile marriage ends.
