iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max users report unusual audio issue

Some users of Apple’s latest iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are reportedly experiencing an unusual crackling sound from their devices’ speakers.

According to multiple user reports, the issue can sound like a crackle, faint tick, pop or random clicking. The problem appears to affect the earpiece speaker more frequently than the bottom speaker.

Both the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max have reportedly been affected.

Reports suggest the issue does not occur consistently for every affected user.

Some users say they hear the sound continuously, while others report it appearing only during specific activities, including scrolling through websites, using apps, receiving notifications or when the keyboard appears on screen.

Some users have also reported hearing the noise during cellular calls.

Other reported triggers include switching Airplane Mode on and off or quickly adjusting the display brightness.

Some affected customers have reportedly returned their iPhones to Apple, only to receive replacement devices with the same issue.

The reports have raised questions about whether the problem is related to software or hardware.

Apple recently released iOS 27.0.1 to address a separate issue that could cause certain iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models to restart when Face ID authentication failed.

However, the latest speaker reports suggest that issue has not been resolved through the update.

Apple has not publicly acknowledged the reported crackling or clicking problem.

It remains unclear how widespread the issue is or whether all affected devices share the same underlying cause.

If the problem is software-related, a future iOS update could potentially address it. If it is linked to hardware, affected users could require device repairs or replacements.

For now, there is no official indication from Apple that a recall is planned.
