Inside Aliko Dangote’s New Chinese Made Leopard 8 SUV Worth Over KSh100 Million

Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest person, has been spotted with a new luxury SUV, adding another high end vehicle to the billionaire’s collection.

According to Autojosh, Dangote was recently filmed arriving at an event in Lagos in a Chinese made Fang Cheng Bao Leopard 8, also known as the Bao 8. He was later seen leaving the same event in the SUV, attracting attention because of the vehicle’s distinctive design and advanced technology.

The Leopard 8 is a plug-in hybrid luxury SUV manufactured under BYD’s Fang Cheng Bao brand. The vehicle is positioned as a competitor to high-end models such as the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series and is available in six- and seven-seat configurations.

The SUV combines a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with two electric motors. According to the report, the powertrain produces about 603 horsepower and 760 Nm of torque. Its battery can provide more than 100 kilometres of pure electric driving, while the combined driving range is reported to exceed 900 kilometres and can reach up to 1,200 kilometres depending on the configuration and conditions.

Inside, the Bao 8 comes with several technology-focused features, including a 17.3-inch multimedia display, a 12.3 inch digital driver display and another 12.3-inch screen for the front passenger. It also features an 18-speaker Devialet sound system and a large augmented-reality head-up display.

The vehicle is equipped with 14 airbags and advanced driver-assistance technology, including Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 3.0 system, which supports features such as highway driving assistance and remote parking.

Autojosh reported that the Bao 8 starts at about 380,000 yuan in China, while the six-seat version can cost up to 399,800 yuan before customisation. The publication estimated that acquiring one in Nigeria could require more than ₦120 million.
