Tooro Kingdom: Why Yusta Asiimwe is ‘Nyina Omukama’, not ‘Queen Mother’

Songs, ululations, and cheers filled the Karuziika Palace in Fort Portal on Sunday evening as hundreds of Batooro gathered to welcome Omujwera Nyina Omukama Yusta Asiimwe Kiijanangoma Amooti, the mother of Omukama-designate Prince Edward Rukidi Nyabongo I.Her son is scheduled to be crowned as the 15th Omukama of Tooro on Tuesday, September 29.
